After posting dozens of homemade videos on YouTube in 2007, where the multi-talented Bieber put his impeccable spin on songs from artists like Usher, Ne-Yo and Stevie Wonder, Justin was discovered by his future manager Scooter Braun. Braun flew Bieber to Atlanta, Georgia, to consult with Usher and soon signed a record deal with Island Records, where he began his professional career.
Before being famous
Bieber was born on March 1, 1994 in Stratford, Ontario, and was raised by his single mother, Pattie Mallette. Though Justin maintains contact with his father. Young singer taught himself how to play the piano, drums, guitar, and trumpet. In late 2007 Justin and his mother began posting videos on YouTube so that his family and friends that could not attend his performances would be able to view them, posting his cover versions of songs by Usher, Chris Brown, Stevie Wonder, Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo and more. Justin’s popularity on the site grew day by day. Check out his break-dancing at the age of 8.
At that time Scooter Braun, a former marketing executive of So So Def, clicked on one of Bieber’s videos by accident, while searching for videos of a different singer. Impressed, Braun contacted Mallette. Mallette was reluctant; she remembered praying, “God, I gave him to you. You could send me a Christian man, a Christian label!” However, after praying with her church elders and receiving their encouragement, she permitted Braun to fly Bieber, then 13, to Atlanta, Georgia to record demo tapes.
A week after arriving, Bieber sang for R&B singer/songwriter Usher, who arranged an audition with Antonio L.A. Reid at Island Records, who in turn signed him to Island Records in October 2008. We have to lower the key when I sing live.” “Justin is physically developing at a slower rate than most guys so his voice is only breaking now.
